Typical Projects
Investment Grade Audits for Major Energy Services Companies (ESCOs) - Energy-saving mechanical improvements including energy management system upgrades and outside air volume confirmation utilizing extensive datalogging at a 470,000 sf hospital in New York City.
Real Estate Management Company - Performance contracts at two multi-family housing properties including mechanical retrofits, water conservation and gas procurement savings. Water use audits for multi-family housing properties in the U.S. Virgin Islands addressed collection / distribution efficiencies / metering / disincentives to conservation.
Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) - Detailed energy audits were conducted for seven buildings totaling 770,000 sf, resulting in $1,500,000 in annual energy savings with an aggregate six year payback.
Energy Analyses For a Large Electric Utility - Analyzed energy use at large multi-tenant office buildings using the EPA ENERGYSTAR program tools to track and promote energy efficiency in both buildings.
Combined Heat and Power (CHP) – Feasibility study evaluating costs and potential savings from gas turbines and internal combustion engines in for a campus-wide application. Recent work in waste heat and small scale CHP/WHP.
Monitoring System for University Energy and Water Use - Developed a metering study detailing strategic deployment, incorporating the campus Ethernet and radio frequency communications.
Energy Master Plan - Detailing purchasing, energy growth and efficiency options for a rapidly growing university.
Surveyed Use and Operation of Equipment - Tabulated process related energy use for the successful reduction in state sales tax on utility purchases.
Specialized Services
Assisted City of Oakland in retrocommissioning government buildings and producing peak period energy savings (with QUEST).
Developed guidelines for energy efficient equipment and appliances, in accordance with HUD reporting requirements, Environmental Protection Agency and Federal Energy Management Program guidelines.
Wastewater Treatment Plant - Worked with local utility and facility to reduce electricity usage. Targeted energy efficiency measures included the use of variable speed drives on blowers and scheduling operations to off-peak hours.
